Summary

Students will first learn about the importance of teenagers handling stress, coping techniques, & positive & negative mental health behaviors.  This can be done by a presentation from a mental health professional and/or completion of an online course such as Everfi’s Mental Health Awareness.

After they understand the importance of mental health awareness they will work in small groups of 3-4 to brainstorm & create a presentation that is two parts: 1.Summary of mental health stats, tips, and techniques to share with other teens, and 2. ideas for activities that encourage healthy habits that JAG members would like to learn more about.

Then JAG students will divide into committees to complete the following: 1. plan activities (field trips, guest speakers, etc) for JAG members to learn about healthy habits, 2.  use their knowledge to create & present about mental health awareness to younger teens,  and 3. create a campaign to inform others in their high school about mental health awareness.

The projects in this library were written, reviewed, and revised by Specialists across the JAG network.

Project-Based Learning is a developmental process, and as we collectively learn and perfect our practice, our quality of projects will improve.  We encourage you to make the projects your own, and as you do, in the comment section on each project page, leave notes identifying the modifications and changes you made to fit the needs of your classroom.
